| Beskrivning av tillverkare | The Château Prieure-Lichine shows, as many French vineyards, the ecclesiastical presence in the vineyard. The origins of the castle date back to the sixteenth century, when the Benedictine from the Abbey of Vertheuil have created the vineyard of Prieuré. The vineyard was mainly cultivated, at the time, for wine’s mess. Thereafter, Alexis Lichine, author of the famous "World Encyclopedia of Wine" bought the area in 1951. The field was, then, taken over by his son, Sacha, until 1999. Then, the family Ballande bought the field. They are now assisted in their task, by the famous oenologist, Michel Rolland. The field includes dozens of plots through the Margaux’s appellation, which makes winemaking very complex, but offer wines of a great complexity. This fourth ‘cru classé’ also produces a second wine, the Cloître de Prieuré-Lichine, and a dry white wine, le Blanc de Prieuré-Lichine. Exceptional to be noted in the region of Bordeaux, the field is open to the public every day. |
